Set at the foot of the North Wessex Downs, an area of outstanding natural beauty, in the picturesque village of Ham, Wiltshire, we serve locally sourced, seasonal food in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

You will feel at home in the Crown & Anchor’s homely and stylish surroundings, with its beautiful oak panelling and flagstone flooring. Dating back to 1840, the inn has been meticulously decorated with every corner holding hand-picked antiques, artwork and local memorabilia.

Whilst the restaurant seats 50, a private dining area has been designed to cater for more intimate gatherings with family, friends and colleagues. A garden terrace has been added to provide plenty of space to while away those long sunny summer afternoons.

Situated midway between Newbury and Marlborough, just one and a half hours from London, the Crown & Anchor is the ideal place to put your feet up and enjoy the quiet of local village life. The village of Ham is ideal for exploring the local area, visiting Pewsey Vale, Avebury, Stonehenge, nearby Salisbury or Highclere Castle, or having a flutter at Newbury Races.

With country walks right from the door, a cycle route running past and three long distance walking routes nearby, the Crown & Anchor Inn is the perfect stop for dog walkers, cyclists, ramblers or those just seeking an idyllic setting in which to enjoy a drink, a meal or a night. The team at Crown & Anchor at Ham look forward to welcoming you — and your dog!

A comprehensive new website is currently under construction and will be launching soon.

At the Crown & Anchor, we support British farmers and artisan producers and our menu reflects this. Our Head Chef, Phil Bayliss, formerly a Head Chef at the River Cottage and for Marco Pierre White, uses the finest seasonal ingredients to create dishes that celebrate traditional British cooking with a contemporary twist.

The Crown & Anchor, a Free House, offers its own local Ham 1840 Bitter from Betteridge’s Brewery in Hurstbourne Tarrant alongside an extensive range of real ales, including those from West Berkshire Brewery, and a selection of artisan lagers and scrumptious ciders.

In addition, our well stocked cellar offers a variety of great wines at competitive prices – there are wines to pair with all dishes and to suit every taste.
